Guess the bible character emoji quiz answers - Part 2

1) Jonah - God told Jonah to go to Ninevah to speak to the people to stop their wrongdoing. Jonah ran away from God and headed in the opposite direction to Tarshish in a ship. There was a storm and the ship was in danger of falling apart. God caused a big fish to swallow Jonah. Jonah prayed in the fish’s belly and after three days and three nights, God spoke to the fish to spit Jonah to dry land. Jonah subsequently obeyed God and spoke to people in the city of Ninevah. (Jonah chapters 1, 2 and 3)

2) Sarah - Angels visited Abraham and Sarah and they said Sarah would have a son by the next year. Sarah was very old; she was almost 100 years old. When she heard this news, she laughed and thought to herself that she and her husband, Abraham, were too old to have a baby. God was true to His word and Sarah gave birth to Isaac at the time God said, which was to everyone’s surprise. (Genesis chapters 18 and 21)

3) Deborah - She was a judge in Israel, who regularly sat under a palm tree. The people of Israel came to her to settle arguments. God told Deborah to tell Barak, to gather his army to fight against Sisera’s army. Sisera was the commander of Jabin, the king of Canaan’s army. Barak asked Deborah to go with them, which she did. Barak and his men used their swords to defeat Sisera’s army and on that day, God defeated Jabin, in sight of Israel (Judges chapter 4)

4) Peter’s mother-in-law - Jesus went to Peter, one of His disciple’s house. Peter’s mother-in-law was very sick with a high fever. People asked Jesus to help her. He healed her, she then got up from bed and began cooking and serving everyone. (Luke 4: 38 – 39)

5) Abraham - Abraham was told by God to take his only son, Isaac, to one of the mountains in Moriah to offer him as a burnt offering. Abraham obeyed God. As he was about to kill Isaac with his knife, an angel of God from heaven told him to stop. God had provided a male sheep for the sacrifice instead. (Genesis 22: 1 – 19)

6) Moses - He came to Sinai, the mountain of God and an angel appeared to him in flames of fire coming out of a bush. Moses saw the bush was on fire, but it wasn’t burning up. As he came closer to what he called a strange thing, God told him to take off his sandals as he was standing on holy ground. God told him to go to Egypt to tell Pharoah, who had held the Israelites captive, to let them go. Sensing Moses’ fear, God told him to throw his staff to the ground and it became a snake. God did this to show Moses that He would give him power for the mission. (Exodus chapters 4 and 5)

7) Woman caught in the act of adultery - Jesus was in the temple when teachers of the law and Pharisees brought a woman there. She had been caught in adultery. They said that according to the law of Moses, she should be killed with stones because of her sin. But Jesus asked that the person without sin throw the first stone at the woman, whose name wasn’t mentioned in the bible. They each dropped their stones and left one by one. Jesus then said to her that He forgives her, doesn’t judge her and she should go and not sin again (John 8: 1 – 11)

8) King Solomon - Solomon was the king of Israel, who by the end of 20 years, built the Temple of God. We think he oversaw the building project than actually being in the construction work itself. After all, he was the king! (1st King 9:10)

9) Lazarus - There was a man named Lazarus, who was very sick and eventually died. Word was sent to Jesus when he was sick to come and heal him. When Jesus arrived in Bethany, He learned that Lazarus had already died and was in the tomb for four days. Jesus felt very sad in His heart and cried when he saw everyone crying because of the sadness they felt. At the entrance of the tomb, He cried out in a loud voice that Lazarus comes out of the tomb. The dead man came out! (John 11: 1 - 44)

10) Luke - He was described as a doctor in the bible (Colossians 4: 14). He wrote the book of Luke of the bible.
