A little girl was a maidservant to Naaman, a mighty and brave man in the army who had a harmful skin disease. She convinced him to meet Elisha, a prophet, because he could heal him. As Naaman stood outside the door of Elisha’s house, Elisha sent a messenger to tell him to go and wash in the Jordan River seven times and his skin will be healed. He did just as Elisha said and his skin became new again, just like a little boy. Naaman was healed! (2nd Kings 5: 1 – 15)


6) Woman caught in the act of adultery

This is another woman in the bible whose name isn’t mentioned. As Jesus was in the temple, teachers of the law and Pharisees brought this woman there. She had been caught in the act of adultery. They said according to Moses’ law and because of her sin, she should be killed with stones. After some thought, Jesus said the person without sin should throw the first stone at the woman. One by one, they each dropped their stone and left the scene. Jesus then said to her that He forgives her, doesn’t judge her and she should go and sin no more (John 8: 1 – 11)

7) Mary

Mary was a young lady, whom the Angel Gabriel appeared to. He told her she was going to be pregnant and give birth to Baby Jesus. She was confused by this as she was a virgin but surrendered to God’s will. She gave birth to our Lord Jesus. (Luke chapters 1 and 2)


8) Deborah

Deborah was a judge in Israel, who regularly sat under a palm tree. The Israelites came to her and she helped settle arguments. God told Deborah to tell Barak to gather his army to fight against Sisera’s army. Sisera was the commander of Jabin, the king of Canaan’s army. Barak said he would only go if Deborah goes with them, which she did. Barak and his men used their swords to defeat Sisera’s army and on that day, God defeated Jabin, in the sight of Israel (Judges chapter 4)


9) Sarah

Sarah was a very old woman; almost 100 years old. Angels visited her and her husband, Abraham and said she would have a son by the next year. When she heard this news, she laughed out loud and thought to herself that both her and her husband were far too old to have a baby. God kept to His word and to everyone’s surprise and at the time He said, Sarah gave birth to a baby boy whom they named Isaac, which means ‘he laughs’. (Genesis chapters 18 and 21)


10) Eve

Eve was the first woman God created. God had instructed Adam, her husband, not to eat from the tree which gives knowledge of good and evil. The devil through a snake appeared to Eve and tempted her to eat from the tree. She yielded and sure felt sad after herself and Adam disobeyed God’s instruction. (Genesis 3)
